Helena Barbagelata (Genova, Italy, 1991) is an Italian multidisciplinary artist, high-fashion model, filmmaker, writer, researcher and activist, whose practice bridges contemporary art, philosophy, literature, and material experimentation. She holds a PhD in Philosophy, Mathematics, and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Athens, and her interdisciplinary background informs a body of work that investigates memory, identity, ecology, mythology, and the fragile relationship between humanity and the natural world. Working across painting, mixed media, sculpture, installation, video, performance, dance, and sound, Barbagelata develops poetic visual languages that merge conceptual inquiry with material presence. Her artistic achievements have been recognized internationally through awards and distinctions from institutions including the Onassis Foundation, the Academy of Fine Arts of St. Petersburg, and the Ministry of Culture of Greece, among others.
Alongside her visual practice, she is the author of several collections of poetry, essays, short stories, and plays.
